Re: New question

Right again, Rock! Im just going on what is being said in the officals back channels. From what I gather, what was written on the report says that the coach was kneeling. So yes, game film would be nice and Im sure that the VHSL will want the tape. If the tape backs up what the offical wrote on the report. Pound High School and the police will be in big trouble.

Re: New question

I Have to question what the police were doing if they refused to preform there duty......The more I hear about the situation the bigger the mess seems to be.

Could the VHSL allow the AOA to refuse to officate another game at Pound?

Re: New question

I dont really have an answer about what the VHSL will or could do. I do know that some police officers are a joke. I cant remember which school it was but I was officating a game and standing on the baseline and the officer was behind me screaming at me to call it both ways. I assumed he had a kid playing. Best all around protection I have seen so far is the Dickenson County Deputies at Clintwood.

Curious Archer, if the tape backs up that the coach was in fact seated, what would be the result? Then instead of Pound or the police being in trouble, shouldn't the referee be in a bit of trouble?

Again I wasn't there, just trying to look at the other side If you are right, then yes I would think that the resource officer or whatever should be in a bit of trouble for not doing their job.

Re: New question

According to an official I've talked with, there is no rule about having to sit in the box after a T. You just have to remain seated.

Hope that helps Rocketeer!

Re: New question

7, you are correct. He doesnt have to be seated in the box. He has to be seated, not kneeling.
Rock,
If an offical does do something wrong, yes things do happen. You will get less games, no district or region games. Or as our By Laws state, suspended or dismissed. I have yet to see that happen.

Re: New question

Archer,

According to what is said on here, would it matter? If someone is in with the right people, they wouldn't get less games or anything else as long as their situation was 'friendly' with certain folks, right?

Re: New question

the tape of the game shows clearly that pound's coach is seated on the bench when the referee approaches him after the technical. in addition, there are several other items in the report that are NOT backed up by the tape.. what can happen to a referee for filing a false report?

Re: New question

For a coach to stand at the beginning of the game, he is supposed to sit within the confines of the 12 foot box. If he is T'd, then he loses his standing privaleges. If a coach chooses to sit the whole game or after he's been T'd, he may sit anywhere within the confines of the bench. Then he can only stand to get a sub, call time out, or applaud a good play. He must then sit back down. An assistant coach can only stand to applaud a good play. He cannot go to the scorer's table for any reason. The head coach can go to the scorer's table for the purposes of getting a correctable error corrected. If he is wrong, then he will be charged with a timeout. If he is out of timeouts, then he will receive another T.

A lot of fans do not know the rules, which is acceptable since they don't have a rule book, but a lot of coaches don't know them either but they do have a book, but choose not to read it.
